I usually stick to one of three fishing methods
In the early morning we use Lindy Rigs in search of the elusive walleye
In the later part of the morning we usually switch to a trolling approach
I head in before lunch, and head back out during the late afternoon to continue trolling
Just before sunset, we switch to bobbers and use 'em until it get's real dark
Occasionally, we'll troll after dark with various noise-making lures or small rapalas
The photo below shows the trolling rig on the left and the bobber rig on the right
I usually customize my gear. Most of the reels are strung with spiderwire
I make my own lindy rigs from spider wire
The bobber rigs use various aerodynamic bobbers. The farther you can cast it, the better. The reels are strung with the lightest spiderwire Hook size is extremely important. If the hook is too small, the presentation looks small, and it is difficult to hook the fish. If the hook is too large, the fish won't be able to swallow the presentation, especially when they're feeding lazily
The most customized gear I use is the trolling rigs We build our own 'little joes' . There are so many factors that effect visibilty. You can't have enough different color combinations
